A world without photography is one in darkness.
To enable anyone anywhere see the life and beauty of a people, it is inevitable that the lights are turned on.
Today, we launch the first ever Capture Awards - a competition aimed at recognizing and celebrating exceptional photographers who can best capture our culture.
We want to change the visual narrative of Nigeria!
We want the world to see the beauty that lies within, the inspiration that comes our zeal to make tomorrow better and the cultural values that make us who we are.
If you are reading this and you are a photographer, then we need your help.
It's time to show the world what we've got - and get rewarded too!

Timeline

The competition formally kicks off today - the 1st of March 2020.

  • March 1st - March 21st: Submissions open. To submit an entry, go to awards.tristetix.com
  • March 22nd - March 28th: Level 3 shortlisting: Submissions close and public community voting begins on social media.
  • March 29th: Top 10 submissions with highest votes are announced.
  • March 30th - April 4th: Level 2 shortlisting: Tristetix internal Judges committee review top 10 submissions.
  • April 5th: Top 5 submissions based on Internal committee review are announced.
  • April 6th - April 9th: Expert committee Judges review top 5 submissions to select first, second and third positions
  • April 10th Winners of the Capture Awards are announced.

Requirements

All Nigerian photographers are eligible to partake in the competition.
Participant submissions must be original content and not copied or stolen or used with or without the owner's consent.
Finally, participants must follow @tristetix on Instagram and Twitter

Competition Prizes

There will be three celebrated Awards winners:
- At first place, the photographer will win the sum of N40000, photography cleaning equipment and a magazine feature
- At second place, the photographer will win a camera back pack and strap belt
- At third place, the photographer will win a photography lighting equipment

Categories

There are 4 major categories of the competition.
1. Eastern Culture (any tribe within Eastern Nigeria)
2. Northern Culture (any tribe within Northern Nigeria)
3. Southern Culture (any tribe within Southern Nigeria)
4. Western Culture (any tribe within Western Nigeria)

Participants may select any category of their choice but are only limited to ONE category to avoid disqualification. Participants are therefore advised to select a category they are familiar with and can best capture.

How to Begin

To make a submission, simply visit www.tristetix.com/creators_login and login to your Tristetix account.
- If you do not have an existing account, you will be required to register and activate your account.
- On your profile profile, click on the button, select your preferred category and upload your photos.
- Check your mailbox for submissions confirmaiton email.

Deadlines

Submissions for the Tristetix Capture Awards will end on the 21st of March, 2020.
